The first grade classes at Riley's school had a Christmas program last week and Riley's class sang O' Christmas Tree. Riley had the part of the angel on top of the Christmas tree. I thought that was very fitting considering girls with Rett Syndrome are often referred to as "silent angels".
Some of the kids took turn placing presents around Riley.
After the performance we went to congratulate her. The little blue thing sticking out of her pocket is headphones. She listens to music while waiting her turn. Makes her much more patient I'm sure!
Riley always has a smile for daddy!

Saturday we took the kids and a couple of Addy's friends to see the Madison Christmas Parade. Hard to believe Christmas is almost here!
Lucas watched intently
Riley didn't seem too excited to be there but later that day we realized she was coming down with yet another cold. Sigh.
Lucas won't sit still for anything!
It was another beautiful day in Mississippi! Now we better start Christmas shopping!!

After we left Georgia, we went to Chattanooga. What a fun city! We hit up the aquarium, had lunch at Mellow Mushroom, went to the Imax Theater, Children's Museum and Rock City Garden of Lights all in one day!
Lucas made a friend at the children's museum :)
Riley the dinosaur
Rock City Garden of lights ended on top of Lookout Mountain - fun!
On the last day of our trip we just hung out and swam in the pool. Everyone needed a little R&R!
The kids were off school the whole week of Thanksgiving and I was feeling like we could use a change of scenery so we decided to take a little trip for a few days. It turned out to be a great trip! Riley was happier than we've seen her lately, and she ate a TON which is always a plus! We first went to Blairsville, Georgia to visit friends and see where we used to live.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather
We went to Vogel State Park and hiked to the waterfall
Played some more
And took a walk to see our old house
What a view!
The house looks great, sometimes I miss it!
We did a lot for only being there a day and a half. It was great to see our old friends!

We never like it when our kids are sick, but we especially hate when Riley gets sick. She is too skinny as it is and when she doesn't eat much for a few days it can stress us out a bit! Thankfully she is on the mend and it looks like her appetite is starting to return. When I took her to the doctor she weighed in at 32.5 pounds. Way too little for a 7 year old! She has an appointment with a GI doctor at the end of this month, hopefully he will have some suggestions on how to fatten our girl up!

In 2010 we ran the Chicago Marathon to raise money for Rett Syndrome.
In 2012 we did it again and ran the Disney Princess Half Marathon.
And in 2013 we will again run the Disney Princess Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for Rett Syndrome! With over 18 weeks until the half marathon we have lots of time to train, but we are already thinking of our running goals as well as our fundraising goals. As a "practice race" we signed up for the Mississippi Blues half marathon on January 5th. I guess you could say we are addicted to running. Let the training begin!

Our trip up to Wisconsin this year was short and sweet.
First we went to Nana's house and got to see all the cousins! The boys loved having Lucas join their "gang" and help increase their odds against the girls!
All 11 cousins! That's a lot of blonde hair!
Then we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a few days. Lucas liked to sit in the lake and splash the water
Addy and Morgan played with Lucas a little bit when they weren't too busy catching frogs
Riley floated on the raft with Grandma
As usual Sadie had a blast jumping off the dock and swimming after balls that we had to throw over and over (and over and over)
We also had some fun kneeboarding, saucering and skiing. The weather was beautiful this year, maybe we can stay a little longer next year?
