Anyway, it seems to be working! She was 24 pounds 2 months ago and now she's 25.5 pounds!
Our main change to her diet was just switching from skim milk to whole milk. And making sure she gets some sort of good fats during the day like peanut butter and cheese. Breakfast is still cereal but I usually give her shredded wheat instead of cheerios now because it has more calories.

Riley is doing great! In fact her worst week was the week I tried that new sitter - I think it was too much sitting and not enough up and around for her.
For the last couple weeks she's had her Nana and Papa here which she LOVES. She's been walking great - maybe a few spills but nothing too rough. And despite the usual battle with consitpation this week she's been really happy.
I took her to a new therapy place last week that has this cool treehouse in it. They happened to be having summer camp going on while we were there and Riley loved walking around and watching all the other kids. I think I'm going to sign her up for a session in July - she loves being around other kids and it's really too hot here to get outside much during the day.
Anyway she had her first speech therapy session there today and did pretty well. Her favorite thing to do was swing though - we need to get our swingset back up! I also got some information on a place 2 hours away that has high tech assistive technology devices so we'll have to check that out. Tomorrow we go back for OT and then we'll probably combine the two sessions next week. We'll be heading up to Wisconsin soon and then school will start just as we get back but I wanted to get something started during the summer - even just to get out and "play".
A few pictures we took last night down by the lake:
Her eyes always looks so dark and pretty and this one captures that I think!

- She has experience with special needs children
- She is going to school for childhood development and wants to get into child psychology
- She is 35 and a mom so no teenage crap to deal with
3 reasons why I have to fire her
- She sits on the couch and watches tv (including HER shows, not even Riley's shows) most of the morning
- She feeds Riley lunch on the couch, doesn't even move to the table
- She used my computer without my permission (turned it on and used it - I had it turned off)
Just not cool.
Sigh... I hoped she'd be someone who could interact and play with Riley for a couple hours a day a few days each week but it's not looking that way. How can you interact with a child when you're watching tv?
Oh well, maybe someone else will come along!

Riley has been off all day, plenty of what appear to be seizures (are they?), not much walking and not as much eating. She is laying in bed and not the least bit tired, "eee"ing away.
She's super thirsty. Had about 5 bites of pizza for dinner and lots of water.
Walked fine outside outside after dinner though and loved it!
Anyway I notice the last day like this was exactly 1 month ago, so I wanted to post about it.

I really need to figure out a way to help Addy understand why Riley is the way she is and make sure we are giving all our kids fairly equal attention. The siblings panel at the conference was really hard for me to listen to - it was the session that affected me most emotionally. I know Addy and Morgan will be better people in the long run having Riley for a sister but I imagine growing up with a special needs sibling has to be hard.
Addy was out with Mitch and Riley the other day and told Mitch that she wished Riley was already in heaven. :( I don't think she understands and I don't think she meant it but I'm sure she has a really hard time with how much attention Riley gets.
In other news we have a girl coming over to work with Riley for a few hours each day now. Yesterday was the first day and it went ok, but I need to be more vocal about my expectations.
Oh! I also met another mom and daughter with Rett Syndrome yesterday. We visited a physical therapy place while they were there. Her daughter is 11 (I think?) and so beautiful! I hope to see more of them in the future!
